Christmas cookies are my favorite! They’re fun, festive, and really get you in the holiday mood. This Christmas, make these easy and delicious red velvet crinkle cookies- a fun play on one of my favorite desserts. Happy Holidays!
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 tablespoon red food coloring
2 cups all purpose flour
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
Powdered Sugar
In a bowl with an electric mixer cream together the butter and sugar until smooth
To the bowl add in the eggs and vanilla and beat until combined
Carefully add in the red food coloring and mix until combined
Add in the all purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cream of tartar. Mix until combined
Pour the dough out onto plastic wrap and wrap tightly. Put into the refrigerator and let it chill for at least 1-2 hours
Preheat the oven to 350 and line sheet trays with parchment paper
Take a tablespoon of the dough at a time and roll it into a ball then roll it in the powdered sugar to coat
Put them on the sheet tray, spacing an inch apart, and put into the preheated oven
Let them bake until puffed and crinkled, about 10 to 12 minutes
Let them cool slightly before devouring
