Ingredients

Scale

Strawberry Jam:

1 lb fresh strawberries, chopped

1 1/2 cups sugar

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1/2 teaspoon lemon zest

1 sheet thawed puff pastry

1 tablespoon heavy cream (for brushing)

Glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

12 teaspoons cream

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Red sprinkles (optional)

Heart shaped cookie cutter (optional)

Instructions

The first thing you want to do is make your easy strawberry jam. In a small sauce pot over medium high heat add in the strawberries, sugar, lemon zest, and lemon juice. Stir to combine

Let the mixture come to a boil and let it simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring often so it doesn’t burn

Once thickened let the jam cool completely. You can even do this step the day ahead!

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and line a sheet tray with parchment paper

On a floured surface roll out the thawed puff pastry slightly

Use your cookie cutter to cut out as many of the hearts as you’d like and place them on the sheet tray

To the center of the heart add a small spoonful of the jam. Make sure you don’t add too much because it will ooze out!

To the top add another heart, crimp the edges with a fork, and brush the top with cream. Put into the preheated oven to bake for 15-20 minutes until it’s a beautiful golden brown

Let the pop-tarts cool slightly while you make the glaze. Add the powdered sugar to a bowl along with 1 teaspoon of the cream, and vanilla extract. Add another teaspoon of cream if needed until you get a good consistency for drizzling

Drizzle over the pop tarts as much or as little as you’d like and then add a little shake of red sprinkles on top. Yum!
