Ingredients

Scale

1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

2 tablespoons butter, melted

1 apple, sliced thin

2 teaspoons brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

4 oz cream cheese

1/2 teaspoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon sugar

1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 egg + 1 teaspoon water

Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F

In a bowl add the melted butter, apple slices, brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Give it a good stir to coat the apples and set aside

In another small bowl combine the cream cheese, lemon juice, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Set aside

On a floured surface roll out the puff pastry slightly. Cut the dough into 6 rectangles and put onto a parchment lined sheet tray

To the puff pastry add the cream cheese mixture. Spread out on the bottom, leaving a border untouched. The cream cheese isn’t the easiest to spread around so don’t worry about it being perfect!

To the top of the cream cheese arrange slices of the apples. You won’t use all of the apples which is ok- you’ll have a treat to snack on while they bake

After arranging the apples brush the border of the dough with an egg wash and put them into the oven

Let the danishes bake for 15-18 minutes until a beautiful golden brown

Let the danishes cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar and devouring. You won’t even believe how amazing these are. Happy Fall!
