Is there anything better than a lazy morning with homemade pancakes? These easy whole wheat pancakes are my go-to favorite breakfast recipe. They’re a great buttermilk pancake recipe and it makes me feel better about eating so many because I use whole wheat- hehe. I love adding fresh bananas but you can leave them plain or add any fruit you’d like! Cue the Jack Johnson music

1 cup whole wheat flour

1 1/2 tablespoon sugar

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

1 cup buttermilk

1 egg

2 tablespoons melted butter

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Heat up a large skillet over medium heat

In a bowl combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon

In another bowl combine the buttermilk, egg, vanilla extract, and melted butter

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and whisk until combined

To the hot pan add a little butter and once melted ladle the batter onto the skillet. Let cook until you see little bubbles forming and the bottom is start to brown nicely

At this point if you’d like to add any sliced fruit this is the time to do it!

Once you see bubbles and its brown flip the pancakes and cook on the other side

Serve with butter, syrup, and any toppings you’d like!
