Ingredients

Scale

12 tablespoons butter, room temperature
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup molasses
3 cups all purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt
Granulated Sugar
Powdered Sugar

Instructions

In a bowl with an electric mixer cream together the butter and brown sugar until smooth
Add in the milk, vanilla extract, and molasses and mix until combined
Add in the flour, baking soda, ground cinnamon, fresh ginger, ground cloves, and salt. Mix until just combined
Divide the dough in half and wrap each half in plastic wrap, making sure to flatten the dough. Put in the freezer for 20 minutes or the refrigerator for 2 hours until it has hardened
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F, line two sheet trays with parchment paper, add about 1 cup of granulated sugar into a bowl and powdered sugar into another bowl
Roll the dough into 2 inch balls (make sure to not handle them too long so they don’t soften), roll them in granulated sugar until coated, then roll in the powdered sugar until completely coated
Add the ball onto the sheet trays about 1 inch apart and add them into the preheated oven
Bake for 12 minutes exactly. Don’t worry… they will seem a little soft when they come out but they are perfect!
Let them cool to room temperature before eating. That’s it! The most delicious Christmas cookie ever. Happy Holidays!
