Spiked Meyer Lemon & Basil Lemonade

Nothing screams summer more than lemonade. It’s refreshing, delicious, and easy to make. Why not jazz up the original by using Meyer lemons and a basil simple syrup! This might be your go-to Summer drink.

Ingredients

Basil Simple Syrup:

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup water

15 basil leaves, torn

Cocktail:

Juice from 3 small or 2 large Meyer lemons

1 oz simple syrup

2 oz Gin

Sparkling water

Instructions

The first thing you need to do is make the simple syrup. In a small pan over medium high heat add in the water, sugar, and fresh basil. Let it come to a simmer and cook 2-3 minutes. Turn off the heat and let it cool completely. Strain out the basil after it’s room temperature

In a shaker with ice add the Meyer lemon juice, basil simple syrup, and Gin. Shake until chilled

Strain into a glass with ice and top with sparkling water

Garnish with a lemon slice and sprig of basil and you have and AMAZING cocktail. Cheers!
