Spiked Meyer Lemon & Basil Lemonade
Nothing screams summer more than lemonade. It’s refreshing, delicious, and easy to make. Why not jazz up the original by using Meyer lemons and a basil simple syrup! This might be your go-to Summer drink.
Basil Simple Syrup:
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
15 basil leaves, torn
Juice from 3 small or 2 large Meyer lemons
1 oz simple syrup
2 oz Gin
The first thing you need to do is make the simple syrup. In a small pan over medium high heat add in the water, sugar, and fresh basil. Let it come to a simmer and cook 2-3 minutes. Turn off the heat and let it cool completely. Strain out the basil after it’s room temperature
In a shaker with ice add the Meyer lemon juice, basil simple syrup, and Gin. Shake until chilled
Strain into a glass with ice and top with sparkling water
Garnish with a lemon slice and sprig of basil and you have and AMAZING cocktail. Cheers!
