What is your idea of heaven? Mine is crystal clear blue waters with bright colored fish swimming throughout, beautiful white sand, a gentle warm breeze, and delicious rum punches (of course). Well my friends… I’ve found heaven and it’s located in the Bahamas. Every year for my mom’s birthday we always go to the Bahamas because it is her favorite place in the world. We always stay on the wonderful Paradise Island at “The Cove” in Atlantis. So much fun. Whenever we are there we always try and take a day trip out to the Exuma Islands. We charter a boat and in an hour and a half we’re on a remote island in the Exumas called “Ship Wreck Cay”. Fun fact: they filmed some of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” there. The water is unlike anything I’ve seen in the world… and I’ve been to some beautiful places. You can look down the crystal clear blue water about 30 feet to perfectly white sand. You see all kinds of fish, stingrays, and (gasp) sharks swimming around. As we pull up to the island there’s an old open wood house there that we dock up to that will be ours for the day. The Bahamian men working there are so much fun and accommodating. We are instantly greeted with a delicious rum punch… which I am not complaining about! We spend the day laying on the beach, snorkeling the gorgeous untouched reef about 20 feet offshore, feeding the stingrays and fish, and drinking. The crew on the island cooks up some great food too! Our captain pulled out a table right into the water, grabbed a few conchs laying around, and made the best conch salad of my life. Can you say fresh? After he made the conch salad he went on and cleaned a fresh grouper they caught. They threw that on the grill for us along with steak and made some delicious pasta salad and regular salad. All accompanied by some more rum punch. All in all it was an absolutely gorgeous day and I recommend anyone that has the chance to check out the Exuma Islands. Happy Summer my friends!
Amazing I know you had some fun there!
