Ingredients
Scale
Crust
- 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all purpose flour
Apple Filling
- 3 large apples, peeled and thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
Topping
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, room temperature
Instructions
- The first thing you want to do is preheat your oven to 300 degrees. Line an 8×8 baking pan with foil or parchment paper and set aside
- In a bowl with an electric mixer cream together the butter and sugar until smooth
- Add in the vanilla, salt, and flour. Mix until combined
- Add the crust to the lined sheet tray and press down evenly. Put it in the preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes. Once the crust is cooked turn the oven temperature to 350 degrees F
- In another bowl combine the apples, flour, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice until all of the apples are coated evenly and set aside
- In another bowl add the flour, brown sugar, and butter. Use your fingers to cut in the butter so that no large chunks of butter are left
- Once the crust is cooked take it out and sprinkle half of the topping mixture to the top of the crust
- Add all of the apples and try and arrange them on the top so they’re level
- Sprinkle the rest of the topping to the top of the apples and put into the preheated oven. Bake the bars for 30 minutes
- Once cooked let them cool to room temperature and then let them chill in the refrigerator for 2 hours before slicing
- That’s it! Literally the most amazing dessert ever. I LOVE FALL!
