Hello everyone! You know what my favorite thing to do is? Take a weekend trip. One of my cousins currently lives in Brooklyn so my other cousin Jesse and I decided to go up for a weekend and be city-slickers. Right now in Florida we’re having some weird weather pattern where it’s been in the 80’s everyday. Now, I know most of you are wondering why I’m complaining about nice warm weather. Let me tell you why. I love boots and sweaters. Don’t laugh. We never get to wear cute cold weather clothes! It’s always too hot. Down here, anything under 70 degrees means its boot weather and it’s been too hot! Not happy. Don’t worry though, I got my boot fix this weekend in New York. I also think my feet are about to fall off from walking so much. I flew in Friday morning and met up with my cousin and our friend Garrett for a delicious lunch at a restaurant in West Village on Greenwich Ave called “Gottino”. I highly recommend it. Yum yum yum. It’s a small little place with only a few tables but the food was outstanding and the atmosphere was so cute. We ordered up a bunch of delicious crostinis like: freshly made mozzarella cheese with sun dried tomatoes and another one with goat cheese, figs, and honey. Oh man it was good. Then we ordered a goat cheese (yes, I like goat cheese ok?), mushrooms, and thyme crepe and a caramelized pear crepe. All in all a great spot. Totally pulled a blonde move and didn’t take a picture because I was so hungry I just dove right in. Sorry! After that we walked around and did a little shopping AND I got to see Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment from Sex and the City. I was a total tourist and took a picture because I was so excited. Later that night we were trying to get into this restaurant in West Village but there was an hour and a half wait. We were going to wait but the bar was so packed and my Florida butt was not about to wait out in the freezing cold for that long! So, we decided to walk down Hudson Street and look for something else. We saw a little place called “Swine” and hey, who doesn’t love pig?! The name captured me so we went in. What a pleasant surprise! Another cute little small place. Upstairs was the bar with a few tables and downstairs was the open kitchen and more tables. We sat down and ordered a bacon-infused manhattan. Yes, that wasn’t a typo. A bacon infused manhattan. Genius. So good. Then we decided we were just going to order a large charcuterie board for dinner and split it. On it we had: house made Chorizo and house made Surryano (like a Sorrano ham) with spicy mustard, house made Pork Rillettes with a tomatillo marmalade (omg), an aged cheddar with a bacon marmalade, and a house made ricotta with an espelette (type of pepper) watermelon jam. OH my gosh. Unreal. The whole thing. We wanted to lick the board clean everything was so exceptional. I loved that they made so many things like the chorizo, pork rilletts, and ham in house. We were in pork heaven. Now it was time for dessert. Hey, I’m on vacation and a girls’ gotta have a little sweetness! We ordered… the Swine sunday. Are you ready for this? Bacon flavored ice cream with chocolate covered bacon. Mind. Blown. So good!!! It was sweet, but smoky, and a little salty. Unreal. Just wow. We left there fat and happy that’s for sure. Another must go in New York. The next morning we got up and decided to go somewhere yummy for brunch. My cousin lives in Brooklyn so we didn’t want to go all the way into the city for brunch. We ended up going to a place called “Roberta’s” in Bushwick off of Moore Street in this crappy part of town. Walking there I was convinced it was going to be gross. Completely wrong! It’s this really cool little hipster pizza place with awesome food and great cocktails. It was morning so I just had OJ… with champagne in it. Once again, I’m on vacation don’t judge me. They have a bakery where they make all kinds of pastries. We ordered up some fresh croissants and english muffins with a guava jam. Yum. Then, I ordered up the cornmeal pancakes with apple butter. Heavenly. Jesse ordered up the Corned Beef with root vegetable pancakes and horseradish sauce, and Kyle ordered up The Bee Sting pizza which had tomato, fresh mozzarella, sopressata ham, chili flake, and honey. Both were absolutely delicious. So much so that we couldn’t stop eating and we all wanted to throw up we were so full. Jesse and I went back into the city to go walk around and shop. We stumbled across this coffee shop called “All Good Things” in Tribeca off of Franklin St. One of the cutest places I’ve ever seen. I wanted to live there. It was a large open space but in the front was a floral shop selling all kinds of gorgeous flowers, then there was a coffee stand selling delicious coffee ( I got a cappuccino!), then there was a stand selling fresh bread, then another selling gourmet cheeses, then a stand selling meats. Like I said, I’d love to live in there. Just put a cot in the middle and my life would be complete. So cute. After that we went back to get ready for dinner. We decided to go to a place im SoHo called “Cafe Habana”. They were voted “best Cuban sandwich in NYC”. So naturally, I had the Cuban sandwich. So good! Jesse had the Enchiladas Suizas which was a grilled chicken enchilada with a creamy tomatillo sauce. Very delicious and full of flavor! We also had a cocktail there called the Mexican Firing Squad. It was tequila, fresh lime juice, homemade grenadine with orange bitters. So yummy! After that we walked to this little bar called “The Room” off of Sullivan St for a night cap. It’s a really cute little dark bar with local artist art on the wall. I actually ended up buying a painting! The next morning we got up and walked around Times Square for a little ( great people watching) and off to the airport we went. What a great, delicious, jam packed weekend! I love New York and if you ever get the chance to go I would definitely recommend going to at least one of those places. Cheers everyone!

It looks like you are having the time of you life, and now a travel-blogger…Pattidawn
I’m so happy you like the city I was born and raised in. I still live and work here. Married at city hall and raised my daughter and son who were also born here. I’ve travelled to many locations on the globe, but I would never leave my home to live anywhere else. You enjoyed all of the places I frequent. You had a great NYC experience. Thank you for the praises! On your next trip I suggest that you attend a concert or Brooklyn Nets basketball game at Barkley’s Center in downtown Brooklyn. You’ll love it. Just a little personal information about me. I was born in Park Slope Brooklyn and lived there from 1963 to 2004. However, I also lived inGreenwich Village for four years. I am currently living in East Flatbush with plans to return to Greenwich Village. Again, I’m glad you enjoyed your stay in The Big Apple.
Hi Maureen!
I certainly had an amazing time in your home city! I always love doing New York weekend trips. What a wonderful place to live in. Thank you for reading and thanks for the tips for next time when I go! Cheers!
