- zest of 2 oranges
Instructions
- Ahhh I can just see myself enjoying this delicious treat on a warm Florida day. A couple of weeks ago I went over to my grandmother's house for dinner. She is quite the cook let me tell you! She made a delicious meal then served us this. It was SO good I had to get the recipe. Come to find out it is my great-grandmother's recipe. How cool is that? It is extremely easy to make and you can store it away and do like I do and pop your head in the freezer about every other night (ok, fine, every night) and get a big spoonful. It's such a fresh and light dessert from the citrus and you also get that banana flavor in there a lot too. Ok, so the first thing you want to do is make your simple syrup. In a pan over high heat add your water and sugar and stir. Let come to a boil and cook for about 5 minutes or so, just to make sure that all the sugar is dissolved. To your blender add the zest of 2 of the oranges and lemons, the bananas, and the juice of the 3 oranges and lemons. Blend it together until smooth and put it into a clean bowl. Add your simple syrup when it's ready to the bowl and mix it all together. I like to let it sit until it is room temperature. Put the liquid in a baking dish and put in the freezer. Let freeze for about 4 hours. After 4 hours take it out of the freezer and with a fork scrape the mixture to keep it light and fluffy. It won't be frozen all the way, don't worry. Pop back into the freezer and let it freeze a couple more hours. When you're ready to serve scrape with a fork and put in a glass or bowl! It is so easy and delicious it will definitely be a staple in your freezer for Spring and Summer!
